Why OREGON?

Oregon is unique in that it offers 4 distinct seasons, and multiple climates, which appeals to a broader sector.  The Oregon Coast is one of the most popular vacation areas in the state, offering intriguing coastal towns and vast beaches.  It is a huge draw to locals and tourists alike.  Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach is an extra special tourist attraction.  It is within less than two hours from Portland.

The Willamette Valley is home to the I-5 corridor which includes Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Corvallis.  This region has a temperate climate and is home to much of the Oregon Wine Country.  Our wine country continues to grow, including Yamhill County, and the southern Oregon region.  We now have over 900 wineries and 1300 vineyards.  We are known for our Pinot Noirs but have quite a wide selection of other varietals.  Oregon wine is a $600 million industry.  Cheers to that!

The Cascade Mountain Range is home to Mt. Hood, a popular ski area 90 minutes from Portland.  The 3 major ski areas on Mt. Hood include Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, also known as “America’s largest night ski area”.

East of the Cascades is the Central Oregon playground, and Eastern Oregon, which is a high desert. Bend, in Central Oregon, is the nation’s fastest-growing city.  Retirees, as well as families and businesses, have relocated there.  Many resorts and second homes are in the area.  Mt. Bachelor offers superb skiing – dry powder snow.  White water rafting is a huge summertime sport.  Fly fishing, hiking, biking, and golf are all very popular activities.  Eastern Oregon is home to the famous Pendleton Round-Up: festivities, and rodeo since 1910.  “Let ‘er Buck!”

The Columbia River Gorge is known for its beauty, and is also the windsurfing capital of the world, with its unrelenting winds.  The area is increasingly becoming known for its wine and waterfalls tours.

Drive time to some of these landmarks from Portland is: 45 minutes to wine country, 90 minutes to skiing, and 90 minutes to the coast.  In two+ hours you are at Black Butte Ranch, a family-friendly resort.  A 3-hour drive gets you to Sunriver, a world-class resort as well as a full-time community.  Ski, sip, swim..! We’ve seen people really assess their home base as WFH (work from home) continues to grow.

Shopping-One of the most popular and newest outdoor malls is Bridgeport Village.  It sits literally in the midst of approximately 5 zip codes. It is a few miles south of Portland, right off the freeway.  It is an easy 10-minute commute from each zip code to this attractive lifestyle shopping center.

Portland is known as a foodie town.  Ranked as the best food in America!  Portland is 8^th in the US for breweries per capita.  Food trucks and Famer’s Markets are also popular.
